At the beginning of January, our friends at the Lost Villages Museum had a flood in two of their buildings: the Stuart House and the Forbes Reading Room. Many artefacts and documents were damaged during the flood, so the Ingleside Long Sault Lost Villages Lions Club is holding an event to help fundraise for the restoration and conservation work needed. This 'pay what you can' spaghetti dinner is taking place on April 12th from 3pm to 7pm at the South Stormont Township Hall (2 Mille Roches Rd., Long Sault). There will also be a silent auction. For decades, the Lost Villages Museum has preserved the history of the communities lost during the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project. The Friends of Crysler's Farm Battlefield is very grateful for the amazing work done there, in part because our organization shares a connection to the Lost Villages. The Crysler's Farm battlefield was flooded in 1959 during the Seaway and Power Project, and many residents of the Lost Villages were descendants or other relatives of Crysler's Farm veterans. This event is a great way for the community to show its support for an incredible local museum and we encourage everyone to attend.
